Why The VIRAMASKTM with Viraseal
The glaring deficiency of present mask technology seems to be excessive
TOTAL INWARD LEAKAGE which the CDC and the
National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH/CDC)
have recognized for some time as an Achilles heal of mask technology.
NIOSH NPPTL, (THE NATIONAL PERSONAL PROTECTIVE TECHNOLOGY LABORATORY)
has an ongoing program for correction of the leakage problem TIL
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS for TOTAL INWARD LEAKAGE which has not as yet been implemented.
Basically infectious virus laden air will take the least resistant pathway
into your lungs and bypass any facemask filters by going around and through
ANY face to mask openings. There are plenty of opportunities in existing
facemasks so instead of a 5% penetration resistance rating; the individual
ill fitting mask may instead be a 25% or greater "LEAKER."
This is as good as no protection at all when millions of viruses are airborne
indoors with just one person nearby coughing or sneezing or even talking! With
the flu, unlike SARS, you may not know the symptoms and still be infectious!

Do not use masks with exhalation exhaust valves as you can infect those nearby. |

Fit is of the greatest concern and fit factor testing
is mandatory if using NIOSH style negative pressure respiratory
facemasks such as the N R or P series. |

If no fit factor Portacount Test is available,
see if exhalation and inhalation greatly loosen and
tighten mask to face with each breathing cycle. Also,
use masking tape around edges if not certain.

Dispose of masks using rubber gloves if airborne virus or bacteria
is suspected and use biohazard disposal if available.
Otherwise, place used mask in plastic lock seal baggies.

for optimum viral seal using medical adhesion grade conformable
flexible adhesive to lock the advanced filtration media to the face.
This is actually how NIOSH certifies the N, R, and P type respirator
masks by hot melt gluing the test masks to the filter testing machine faceplate.

VIRAMASKTM with Viraseal NIOSH N99 pre certification ratings for
filter depth loading, inhalation, exhalation, and bacterial and viral
filtration of greater than 99.9% and 85 lpm.
At normal breathing rates, penetration of bird flu sized particles
is less than .05% at 30 lpm.
