The Kaito model KA-009 emergency radio can be relied upon
for daily use or in an emergency. The Kaito KA-009 world radio can receive broadcast
signals from regular AM and FM radio stations, NOAA weather channels,
over the air TV stations as well as international shortwave and New with Aviation Band reception.
The four way charging of the KA-009 means it can operate for an
unlimited duration without depending on external power because it can be
powered by the built in solar panel, hand crank, AA batteries or with the include 120 volt AC adapter.
If you crank the KA-009 when the battery is low for about two minutes you will
get about 30- 60 minutes of playtime. Many users leave the KA-009 by the window and let the sunlight recharge the
internal NI-MH battery. With normal sun exposure the Kaito KA-009 can go days without being plugged in
and no AA batteries in it.
When you have electric current, just plug it in using the included AC/DC adapter.
The Kaito KA-009 radio will run about a hundred hours on 3 AA batteries.
Four hours of sun charge the internal battery for about 24 hours.
Normally you'd only use the dynamo with no electricity, no sun and no batteries.
The internal NI-MH batteries can be fully charged and discharged more than 500 times.
The batteries should recharge for at least 5 years.
The Kaito KA-009 can receive over the air network and local stations on TV channels 1-13.
The KA-009 radio doesn't get cable TV or UHF. The difference between the KA-009 and the
KA-007 is the KA-009 receives the
aviation band instead of VHF(Taxi, and Police): 145-175 MHz on the KA-007. The KA-009 also has a built in Super Bright LED flashlight.
The KA009 by Kaito Electronics is designed in the UK and manufactured in China.
