NoiseBuster headphones use a microphone inside and outside the earcup (1) to listen to the noise coming into
the ear (2). Using electronics (3), the system takes that information and uses it to create a noise
wave that is identical to, but directly opposite of, the one coming into the ear (4). The "anti-noise"
wave is output through a speaker, also located in the earcup. When the two waves (the noise wave
and the anti-noise wave) meet, the noise is significantly reduced (5).

NoiseBuster FX Performance Comparison
We have compared the performance of the NoiseBuster FX active noise reduction headphone to three well-known competitive brands.
As is indicated by the data in the chart below, NoiseBuster FX delivers the highest level of active noise reduction (ANR) performance
using two measures: The decibel reduction of noise - NoiseBuster FX reduces the noise by 18-20dB -- and frequency range of
performance - NoiseBuster FX reduces noise between 20Hz and 1,200Hz. NoiseBuster gives you the best overall noise reduction
performance.
How to read the Noisebuster FX performance graph
The graph depicts the amount of active noise reduction (ANR) for any given frequency point between 20 and 2,000 Hz.
For example, at 200 Hz, NoiseBuster FX (Black line on the graph)ANR level is 20dB versus the ANR noise reduction level for Competitor 3 which is only 6dB.
(Note: 0dB is ANR “off”).
How we measured performance
The cancellation was measured by inserting a miniature microphone into the ear canal and measuring the noise reduction when
the cancellation was turned on. The measurement was made in a diffuse field - i.e. with sound coming from all directions. All of
the headsets were adjusted on the ear to maximize cancellation by looking at the cancellation performance in real time.

Noisebuster FX reviews
"..I was delighted to find
a pair of noise-canceling headphones that perform almost as well as the Bose phones for a lot less money. The
new Noisebuster headphones from Pro Tech Communications carry a list price of $69." The Courier Journal, Louisville Kentucky, Products, Trends & Technology, October 23, 2004.
"In tests, the NoiseBuster performed best in canceling the low-frequency roar of a lawn mower. With the noisecanceling
feature turned off, music was barely audible with the lawn mower running 10 feet away. With the
noise-canceling feature turned on, the roar was reduced to a background hum; the lawn mower was still audible,
but the music came through clearly, even with the CD player set at relatively low volume." Dayton Daily News, Dayton, Ohio November 9, 2004
"The NoiseBuster® Noise Canceling Headphones are designed to decrease exterior noise
while delivering quality audio sound and they do just that.
When flying, the headphones reduce the sounds from the cabin,
including engine noise, by electronically cancelling irritating soundwaves.
But, they also deliver first-quality audio from the plane's onboard audio
system without distortion." Weblope.com
"The NoiseBuster headphone system from Pro Tech Communications is
one of those nice, moderately priced items. While it might not get the attention
that the higher-priced, big-name noise-canceling headphones get, it does perform
in a league above its $69 price." The Plain Dealer
"Tune out the outside world with $69 headphones"
